01. 本シリーズは初めてで、前作のEchoParkでのいきさつが暗示されている部分はよくわからないが、話の展開は非常に単純で、２時間ドラマを見ている感じがした。スピード感はあるがもっと深みのあるストリーを期待していたので物足りなさを感じる。FBIなどとの関係もあっさりしていて、連邦組織の凄味が全く感じられない。 英語の面では非常に読みやすいので、英語に自信のない人にもお薦めです。 02. I would have to say that I love all the Harry Bosch stories including The Overlook. I enjoyed the ride with the edgy Detective Harry Bosch! The storyline overall was very clever loosely based on a true incident of an unsolved theft of radioactive material mixed with current concerns about terrorism. Once again Michael Connelly shows his keen insight into interpersonal dynamics and politics of law enforcement. I was glad to see the return of FBI agent, Rachel Walling and the continuing evolution of the complex relationship between Bosch & Walling. I was, however, a little disappointed with the execution of the story. I felt that the story needed more development. For instance, while Bosch put the facts together to uncover the "true crime", despite the misdirection laid out by the perpetrators. The story failed to adequately explain why one of the suspects who had expert knowledge in law enforcement would panic in face of an investigative trail that was based on theory!! If you missed reading Tino Georgiou's masterful novel--The Fates, I'd highly recommend reading!
